Some Insights into three of the presentations.
Professor Harlene Hayne began the conference with an extremely interesting, enlightening and humourous presentation. Professor Hayne explained how she is not only the first woman Vice Chancellor of the University of Otago but the first Psychologist and the the first American. She explained how she was fortunate to have experienced a 'gender-blind' career but paid hommage to the many women before her who paved the way and made it possible for her, and many women, to have been able to achieve success careers. Hayne describes juggling her many responsibilities as more of a work-life blur rather than work-life balance. She's Motivated was very fortunate to have managed to secure such a talented and in-demand speaker.
Cath Belworthy, owner and manager of Glowing Skies, gave an appealing insight into how a small business hand printing t-shirts grew into a success business including five retail stores and a New Zealand based manufacturing company. A very unassuming speaker she delighted the attendees with her natural down-to-earth qualities showing us how anyone can do if they believe in themselves and take some risks. Cath is heavily involved in all the garment design and specially created a new design for the She's Motivated Conference!
Bernard Hickey finished the conference with a very informative and engaging presentation. Despite being the only male allowed, he was completely at ease and his hour flew by as we were all engrossed by his pertinent presentation about the state of the economy.
